With 40 years of experience in radio management, Alan has a broad range of success in many different positions, including on-air talent, Program Director at several stations, Executive VP of Programming for King Broadcasting Company and Paxson Communications, Vice President and General Manager. Alan began consulting the programming, marketing, research and leadership of stations in 1988, which led him to be involved with many organizations, including Gannett Radio, ESPN, Susquehanna Radio, Clear Channel Communications, as well as a host of radio stations. In 1999 he partnered with John Frost to create Goodratings Strategic Services. Experience as a radio General Manager taught him the importance of balancing forces: creativity and accountability. So he combines original thinking with strategic execution to create highly successful radio stations.
Alan has been instrumental in the development of several formats, including Adult Alternative, Smooth Jazz, Jamin’ Oldies and Christian AC. In 2009 Alan became Chief Operating Officer for EMF Broadcasting’s K-LOVE and Air1 and in 2016 became President of the ministry. Alan is an active contributor to the industry, and has spoken at the NAB, Radio & Records conventions, the Country Radio Seminar, the NRB, CMB and the GMA. He’s been published in Radio & Records, Radio Ink, Christian Radio Weekly, All Access, and many other places. He also publishes the successful “Mason Morning Minute” blog. Chosen by CRW magazine as on of the 50 most influential people in Christian music, Alan is also the 2007 recipient of the Scott Campbell Award, and the GMA Echo Award for impact on Christian music radio. He currently serves on the board of the Christian Music Broadcasters. When he's not at work, Alan loves spending time with his wife of more than forty-eight years, Becki. He and Becki live in Northern California with their granddaughter Becca.
